The Rottweiler
The rottweiler can be acquired from many kennels or from a rescue.
When raised from puppyhood with other pets and children, these dogs are more tolerant and loyal. Introducing a new pet to an adult dog should be done very carefully. Temperament of these dogs may depend on the bloodline, sex and socialization. Males are usually less tolerant of other males than they are of females. Bitches with puppies may not be tolerant of other dogs. As these dogs were developed for working abilities, they thrive on attention and enjoy working with the master and pleasing him or her. Without a job to do, these dogs become bored and uninterested.

The dog has a reliable temperament. These are very protective hounds that are always ready to defend their owners. Children find these hounds friendly and playful. Small children should never be left alone with these hounds, as it may be dangerous. These hounds usually have large litters; thus 12 puppies are not uncommon. The usual coloring of the coat is black with brown markings on the cheeks and muzzle, paws and legs. Their coat is very short and dense; it’s easy to groom. The rottweiler can be acquired from many kennels or from a rescue.
