Rottweilers are great dogs to own. However, if you are planning on buying a Rottweiler puppy, there are many important things to consider. Educate yourself on the Rottweiler standard. Read specialized literature and talk to reputable breeders who have been involved with the Rottweiler breed for several years.
Pet stores are not the best places from which to buy Rottweiler puppies. Many customers say that they just want to buy a pet quality pup and that his standards and pedigrees escape their attention. They tend to buy a cute puppy from a pet store. The puppy may not meet the breed standard, being undersized or oversized, may have unstable temperament or some genetically inherited diseases.
Reliable puppy producers should be able to answer all the questions related to the origin of the Rottweiler puppies. The pet store should give indisputable answers as far as the health problems of the breed are concerned. Ask about the source of the puppies and if it is a licensed dealer. Ask to see copies of medical certificates. Find out what happens to the puppies if they do not sell.
Buying from a pet shop may result in getting a dog that later prove unsuitable for your family and circumstance. Pet stores have a range of breeds and you have an opportunity to choose. However, if you are sure it is the Rottweiler breed in which you are interested, look for a responsible breeder of Rottweilers.
